ORIGINAL TRU is a coming-of-age LGBTQ Rom-Com that follows a gay outcast named Truman, who battles against high school bullies by becoming the ruthless anonymous creator behind a popular comic “burn book” called TRUTH MAN. The comic satirizes all the juicy gossip among the social circles of Truman’s school, Calvary High. So when the maligned popular clique vows to identify the creator at any cost, Truman escalates his satirical attack on them, threatening to destroy his friendships and ‘out’ a secret romance with his first love, a closeted jock named Bastian.
 

The movie is being executive produced by Tony Award winner Hunter Arnold at TBD Theatricals (Dear Evan Hansen, Kinky Boots, Mr. Saturday Night), who is securing financing for a $10M budget, with $5M already assigned.
 

We have attached WME client Garrett Clayton (Teen Beach Movie, King Cobra) to play our lead, Truman. And Misha Osherovich (Freaky, Girl in the Woods) is attached to play our non-binary supporting character, Harley. 
 

In addition to the queer love story at the film’s core, we mix live-action and comic book-style animation. Think a modern Pretty in Pink meets Scott Pilgrim.  Our goal is to tell a fun, funny, and heartfelt high school movie that captures the nostalgic feel of those classic John Hughes films while making it accessible to anyone, regardless of their sexual or gender identity.
